Live Case – Project

Research and Development for New Product

A Collaboration Between

Project Synopsis

We are trying to create a value-added product in the form of CSA, Community Sourced Agriculture, boxes. We do not grow enough to facilitate a sustainable CSA, however, we believe we have the ability to partner with other farms to fill out the boxes. We are inexperienced in setting up a product offering and collaborating/partnering with other farms.
We will need to build a value-added product model that can serve as a rubric for future offerings. We will need to understand the requirements and details of vendor agreements/contracts. We will need to know cost-effective packaging materials as well as delivery methods (although we think pick up from a central location may be ideal).
We believe that a small, soft-launch, proof of concept CSA box subscription for the next growing season would be ideal. At the very least, we believe a solid vendor contract template and product model will allow us to soft launch later in the growing season if necessary.

Company Overview

The We Sow We Grow Project began as a small community garden plot in West Pullman, Chicago in 2016. As our Executive Director shared the progression photos of the project, questions were asked, and a gardening movement was born. All from the desire to no longer see empty plots of land on the city’s Southside… While the urban farm focuses on supporting those in the community, the larger online community is stemmed in creating gardeners in all walks of life. We are looking forward to expanding our offerings and collaborating with agricultural enthusiasts everywhere.
